The Great Bedding Plant Sale 2018 is now up-and-running and looking for your support!
Last year the sale raised several hundreds of pounds for the Scout Group minibus, and with your help we can raise more money toward purchase of a minibus to benefit all sections (Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts) of the Group.
Would you like to place an order (however small or large), or do you know someone else who lives nearby that would like some bedding plants?
Every plant will make a difference to the money we raise, but orders need …

A great big thank you to, the residents of Holbeck #Barrow-in-Furness, and friends/parents of the 17th (St. Perran’s) Scout Group, for your support of our Tea Prepared bake sale today. The funds raised by the #Beavers #Cubs and #Scouts will help keep Scouting active on Yarlside.

What A Great Success! – thanks to all the volunteers young and old(er) donating cakes and prizes, manning stalls, and buying scrumptious goodies, I believe the bake sale raised about £400…. Thank You All!

Weint Wood in October: While the Cubs and Scouts Reside
The smell of damp canvas; campfire popping.
Boots by the door, muddy and sopping.
Dense pillows of moss, carpets of leaves,
Bracket fungi and millipedes.
Slugs and snails (dare you touch these?)
Friends running, stick-in-hand, through the trees.
Laughter of sparrows and shouts of the crow,
Teens perched round the fire, faces aglow,
Until witching hour; reluctant to bed.
Sleep sound ‘til the morn; stomachs full and content.

There is a nationwide shortage of leader volunteers – a very interesting article from the BBC and Cumbria County Scouts webpage at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39560023 and http://cumbriascouts.org.uk/more-cumbria-scouters-than-ever-but-waiting-lists-at-an-all-time-high/
Our group is also short of leaders and helpers from ad-hoc help for a couple of hours, to section and group leaders with a few hours each week or more, and everything in-between.
It can be very rewarding and enjoyable, and full training is provided as required (see Volunteers)
Could you help?
