About

We are proud to offer young people (boys and girls) aged 6 to 14½ a range of exciting activities and adventures; to experience the outdoors, learn new skills, make friends, and help others. Our young people, their families and friends, the volunteers and the community around us are all rewarded by the positive difference scouting makes to everyone’s lives.

SW Lakes District Scout Badge

Our Scout Group is called the “17th Barrow (St Perran’s) Scout Group” and mainly serves the Roose, Yarlside and Holbeck areas of Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria. We have a current capacity for over 60 boys and girls, split between three sections depending on age:

  • Beaver Colony – ages 6 to 8 – meet on Wednesday at 6pm
  • Cub Pack – ages 8 to 10½ – meet on Tuesday at 6.30pm
  • Scout Troop – ages 10½ to 14½ – meet on Wednesday at 7.30pm

We are based at the St Perrans Scout Hut & Community Hall set in almost half an acre of grounds accessed from Yarlside Road (LA3 0EX), near the junction with Balmoral Drive (see map on contact us page). The hall is also used regularly by Rainbows and community groups such as Holbeck Senior Citizens, and is available on a regular or one-off basis by arrangement at competitive rates. If you have a group that is looking for somewhere to meet regularly, or just for a single get-together or birthday party, why not come and have a look to see if our facilities would suit your needs.

We are part of the South West Lakes District of Cumbria County Scouts (our district badge is shown here).

We are a registered charity (number 521555), and you can find us listed on Charity Commission Website.
